22. The long anticipated MR BLIZZARD finally comes to town!

We are still learning this radio game... and we didn't really have enough microphones to do this properly so both me and Matt ended up coming out a bit quiet.  Matt set the sound levels... so if you want to blame someone, blame him.

If it sounds Ok then you can thank me for all the amazing work I did boosting the levels and moving stuff around. You can tell how much work i had to do by the fluctuating volume of the beds...

Anyway. Here is the show.

By the way, If you haven't heard Clayton before... He is amazing. The next hour or so may change your life.

'Inspector Gadget' by Dann Casswell and Clayton Blizzard
We've long talked about working on a project together, but we just couldn't get our schedules to align. Eventually, after talking to my astrologer, we decided that instead of actually making a track, we should just start the show with an impromptu Beat Box Session. Matt failed to 'bust in with a wicked Freestyle'

'We're all Gonna Die' by Clayton Blizzard
It's funny because it's true. When Clayton came into the studio both me and Matt were swiftly reduced to the status of giggling fan boys. In order to lift the mood Clayton played this cheerful little ditty and left us in further Awe.

'Ballad of a Thin Man' by Bob Dylan
I may have made a mistake at this point by suggesting that this is an inappropriate song for Clayton to play out. Mostly because he is not a thin Man. He's not a fat man. He is a little bit of a stout man.

'MC' by KRS 1
Clayton comes from a tradition of Hip Hop and Folk Music. He's as happy busting off some phat ryhmes to the haunting drone of the Hurdy-Gurdy as he his sipping kristal in the back seat of his record companies beamer while two weedy looking vegetarian groupies sing 'where did you get that hat.' He's a stone cold player (of nine Men's morris).

'Crushed Bones' by Why
It's been so long since we recorded the show that I have completely forgotten what the hell this song sounded like. I will replace this with the first description that is sent to me over EMAIL

'Jean' by the Smiths
People always think that I will really like The Smiths. But oddly enough I'm not a big fan. TV is my God and I once saw Morrissey on the Johnothan Ross show and he didn't come off to well. I do however like this. It's Chris Packham dropping references to Smiths songs into episodes of Spring Watch. Genius. I particularly like Kate Humble corpsing every time he does it.

 'Function Creep' by Clayton Blizzard
Oh Clayton, with my looks and your brains just think what amazing children we would have. I'm thinking Superpowers.I'm thinking that we would have to hide them from the military. I'm not letting the Feds do experiments on our kids.

'Umi Says' By Mos Deff
Deftones is an American rock band from Sacramento, California, formed in 1988 consisting of Chino Moreno (lead vocals and guitar), Stephen Carpenter (guitar), Chi Cheng (bass) Frank Delgado (keyboards and turntables), and Abe Cunningham (drums and percussion). They have released six albums to date, with their most recent Diamond Eyes in spring of 2010. Mos Deff is the alternative name of that dude from the IT Crowd.

11: Nepotism Special

the long awaited epic Nepotism Special can be heard... Here.

This Episode was all about people we know and the bands that they are both in and love. Or hate. While we are talking about people we know... Go Here Vids... brought back from the dead... and somewhat ironically obsessed with zombies.

Watch them.. but watch them in your own time. You're on our time now.

Who are we? We are the Erotic Toast Project. We like it weird. We like to create a mood with a silly voice.

I would like to warn you that we are still struggling with the area of broadcasting known as 'levels' and so the songs are a bit quiet...

On with the..

Track Listings

'Track 1' by John Schuller (now in the 'The Youngs')

John signed this album for me. He made several albums, the one he made while we shared a house together wasn't this one, it was called the lesser angel of failure and had a picture of Holman Hunt's scapegoat on the cover. The BBC reviewed it and even said nice things about it. I think he might have even got a double page spread in wired magazine or something...

'New Direction' by Strobe 45
It's a sad fact that Strobe 45 don't exist any more. They say however that the star that burns brightest doesn't burn for long. Look at James Dean, I mean really look at the bastard. I think you get the point.

Strobe 45 are now Guns or Knives
Steff is the one in the middle.

'Ours' Oxygen Thief (Matt's mate Barry)
Guitarntablism. like turntableism but with a guitar. a new musical religion? discuss. what is the purpose of religion. does it bring people together. does it bring unity to the community. does it clothe the hungry, feed those who are too cold to afford shoes. together we can do some good. Think about that.

'Deep' by TC
I had to cut most of the talking from the beginning of this track... did you notice. You pigs. you don't care about music. you just want to know where your next handful of pills is coming from. Go on, log off and get pissed... Go huff a bag full of meow meow, see if I care. You people make me wanna go to a greasy spoon order a full English breakfast, eat it and then throw the whole thing up over my mums freshly cleaned carpet.

'Transformation Fascination' by Vanity Scare

This is the first piece of the sub genre of Psychobilly I ever heard in my life. It sounds a lot like the HBO show True Blood. Now that's Quality Television. And this is a quality Band. They re-create the experience of dating a french man almost perfectly.

'Young Worrier' by Panic Number

I really like two of the members in this band. I respect them both personally and professionally. Neither of them sing on this I don't think... One of them appeared in this. Since playing this track I have found that it comes back and sits in my head for a few days at time. That Worrier, Cleverer line... Something about it that I like. I don't like the line about following people into the snow though. Sorry guy. I'll try harder.

'Maybe in Another Life' by Dig for Fire (now Cassette Culture and the Caves)
I can't find any links for the Caves or Cassette Culture but luckily due to the long memory of the internet I was able to link to Dig For Fire's Website. It's a song about Writing. Which you can probably tell is something pretty close to my heart. I just failed to place in yet another competition. It wouldn't bother me that much if it wasn't for the fact that my contribution made a up a small proportion if the winners payout. Talk about bitter irony. The production on this track was amazing.

'It Makes No Difference When You're Dead' by Tim Casswell
When I was a kid my dad was always on the guitar. To this day I think I would rather fall asleep to the sound of my father playing the guitar than any other sound. I'm pretty sure that through the walls of my mother's womb, into my amniotic soaked eardrums came the soft vibrations produced by my fathers fingertips as they danced on the tightened stings of a second hand acoustic.

Letter to America By Clayton Blizzard
Every one love Clayton! That's an order.

3: The Dubstep Special

You can hear our world famous Dubstep Special HERE

Matt picked all the tracks for this show which he promised me would be all Dubstep and that we would do our best to explore this fascinating and cool fresh and above all local style of music. Apparently he lied. By the end of the show it was clear that this was our 'Dubstep Free Special' as we cruised through another hour without playing any Dubstep at all.

Here for your reading pleasure is the world famous track listings...

'Recording Device' By Babyhead
On the show Matt tells an elaborate story about this local 'SkRap' band, He claims that they broke up and then got back together because of problems with the brass section, but according to thier website They never broke up, and the confusion arose due to the fact that they titled their 2008 show 'The End of Babyhead?' it turns out that the answer to that question was 'No... No it isn't'

'The Gentle Art of Making Enemies' by Faith No More
Crooning Rock sung straight faced by the versatile front man Mike Patton. Mike wasn't the first person to sing for Faith No More, before they broke through to the big time Faith No More were fronted by, the Yoko Ono of Grunge Courtney Love. It's old, it's Classic, it's Faith No More.

'Pawn Shop' by Sublime
According to Matt 'They're a famous, kind of orange county kind of um.. ska punky kind of California band.' According to me 'Sublime were formed in 1987 when their manager, Dr Lou Gehrig who was also a baseball player decided he would turn his equally muscled and skilled hands, to playing guitar' I like my version better even if it isn't true. mmmm... Muscled Hands

'Puppies in Love' by the Love Puppies (Actually 'Carpe Diem' by WilHaven)
Heavy like the crushed heart of the sun, like the water of the Mariana Trench, Heavy like the bleeding eyes of the first man to see the face of the anti-christ. HEAVY. Like the future imagined by Dr Emmett Brown. like a T-Rex footfall. Like the smell in the air on the eve of nuclear war. That's heavy man. That's Wilhaven.

'Economics 101 (the Natal Lottery)' by Clayton Blizzard
'Change doesn't trickle down to us it rises up like dust so stamp your feet!'
Clayton is a local artist that is frickin' awesome, witty, political, clever and utterly amazing live. One day we will have Clayton on the show and all me and Matt will be able to do is giggle and prod him occasionally to see if he's really there. go to his website.

'Night Letters' by Propagandhi
No false Gandhi's here! These guys are from Canada a land of lakes, beavers, massive trees and two of my favourite novelists (Douglas Coupland and Matt Hooton). In 1998 Canada had a GDP of 1.4 trillion US dollars and had never started a war. It has however perpetrated a very under-reported series of atrocities against what we call the 'First Nations People'. In Canada there are forests the size of Europe. Think about that for a second. Europe dude. That's pretty massive.

'MX' by the Deftones
The Deftones are from Sacramento, California. This semi secret song from the end of the Around the Fur album is a kind of frustrated and uncomfortably sexy durge. There is sexy lady in the background who takes time out of her busy day to encourage him to keep singing. She seems to imply that if he follows through with her instructions there might be an unspecified reward in it for him.

Thank you for listening. Thank you for reading. I'm gonna go ride my bike through the woods. I'm 30 years old, but I still know how to have fun. good clean dubstepless fun.
